WESTPORT. One of KC's top nightlife joints, Beaumont offers cowboys everything from concerts and pool tables to country line dancing and a mechanical bull. Of course, Beaumont's not all country-western, as the eclectic clientele will no doubt attest, and it's not uncommon to find the two sand-pit volleyball courts packed with well-tanned co-eds and youngish business types. When the sun goes down and live music starts, only heaven (and the booking agent) know what's in store, since featured acts may be heavy metal, pop, Southern rock, or just plain country. Past performers have included such familiar names as the Del McCoury Band, Warren Brothers, Brother's Keeper, and Cracker. Cover charges vary, and advanced tickets may be purchased at the box office. DOWNTOWN. The unique addition of a video bar that shows comedy clips and music videos during happy hour sets this downtown nightspot apart from the rest. Enjoy drink specials (half-price martini Saturdays are extremely popular) until late in the evening, when the club gets rolling and DJs put on thrilling music and light shows. A favorite of the gay and straight communities (and everyone in between), NV unites patrons with great music, tasty drinks, and heaps of clubby atmosphere.

DOWNTOWN NORTH. If you're in the mood for boot-scootin' instead of another meat-market dance club, head to Denim & Diamonds for a change of pace. Friendly staff and a relaxed vibe permeate the place, and free dance lessons early in the evening prepare you to rub shoulders with other cowboys (and girls) later on. No-frills burgers and fries are on hand if hunger strikes, and beer and mixed drinks are priced affordably, so you can stay out until the cows come home.

DOWNTOWN. One of the KC area's top venues for live entertainment, the Hurricane brings to the city a veritable cornucopia of national and regional acts. Featured bands represent a variety of musical genres and include Indie bands like the Connells, from-the-hip rock-n-rollers like Mesh STL, and enigmatic jazz artists like Lowry. The youngish crowd tends to party hard until the place closes down. An outside deck area offers the perfect opportunity to get a little fresh air and hone your pickup lines.

DOWNTOWN - RIVER MARKET. Two levels of action give clubgoers the much-coveted option of chilling upstairs with a good meal and a drink or partying downstairs to hip-hop and house. Dimly lit and scattered with couch-like beds, the dance floor is dedicated to rhythm and relaxation. DJs rotate on a weekly basis, keeping the beats new. The upper level sports a sleek, clean aesthetic with wood and glass detailing; there, you'll find pastas, fish, and steaks. Regulars appreciate the variety of experiences available at this River Market spot.
